ALS Awareness and Tim Hortons
Prince County Tim Hortons outlets and the host committee of the International Softball Federation 2005 Junior Men's World Softball Championship have teamed up to raise money to promote awareness and research into Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Lou Gehrig's disease. From June 20-26, Tim Hortons customers will be able to purchase a decal bearing the logos of world softball, ALS and Tim Hortons for $1. The decals will be put on display in the five Tim Hortons outlets in Summerside, Kensington and Borden-Carleton. All money collected up to $2,000 will be matched by Tim Hortons and donated to ALS.
"ALS is a disease that's quite devastating and we wanted to get behind that and raise awareness of it and help raise some money for them," he said. "What we're going to do is sell decals for $1 to our customers and Tim Hortons will match those purchases up to $2, 000. If 2,000 people buy a decal each we'll match that and send a $4,000 cheque to ALS. If we sell 3,000 decals, it will be a $5,000 cheque."
