ALS Volunteer Information

Volunteering

Regional units in every province depend on the efforts of many volunteers to support patient services programs and fundraising activities. Volunteers are the driving force behind the ALS Society. Call the ALS Society of Canada office at 1-800-267-4257.

Walk Teams
Walk teams consist of three or more people who gather together to WALK for ALS and raise funds to support research and local services. Funds are raised through a letter-writing (or e-mail) campaign with easy-to-follow samples and tips provided by the ALS Society of Canada. Walk teams can consist of family members, friends, co-workers and neighbours - anyone with a desire to WALK for ALS and/or raise money to help those affected by ALS. All routes are wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Family Teams
Family-based teams are a great way for families, friends and co-workers to show a person with ALS that they are not alone. Letter-writing/e-mail campaigns can help families raise thousands of dollars for their team and the fight against ALS. Contact Enzo Raponi, Director of Development at er@als.ca for more information on how to organize your family team today!

Businesses
Businesses can also organize teams to take part in WALK for ALS. It's a great way for a company to show its support for an employee or their family member who has ALS. Organizing a Walk team builds company morale and instils a strong sense of team spirit. It's also a way to show the community that the company is a caring, involved corporate citizen.

You will be amazed by the amount of support people will give you - most walkers easily raise $150 or more. Set your personal fundraising goal and let your family, friends, neighbours and co-workers take the lead in the ALS Society of Canada's WALK for ALS.

Matching Gift Programs
Take a BIGGER step…ask your employer if your company has a matching gifts program. A matching gifts program can double your pledge and bring you closer to your goal.

Corporate Sponsorship
Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available.  Please contact Enzo Raponi, Director of Development, at 1-800-267-4257 ext. 205 or er@als.ca.
