Lori Weir was elected to the position of president of the board of the ALS Society of Canada on April 30, 2011.
Over the past six years, Lori has held numerous positions with ALS Canada and the ALS Society of New Brunswick. Lori is the founder and president of Above the Line Inc., which offers leadership and sales consulting, training and coaching services to corporate clients throughout North America. They work primarily with companies involved in the manufacturing and sale of: food and beverage, wood & paper, multimedia news, and shipbuilding. Lori is a graduate of St. Thomas University. Living in Saint John, NB, she is supported in her work and community giving by her partner and stepdaughter.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a rapidly progressive and fatal neuromuscular disorder that causes the degeneration of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS can affect men and women from any ethnic origin at any age. Approximately 2,500 to 3,000 Canadians are living with the disease. Eighty per cent of those affected will die within two to five years of diagnosis.
