Annual Research Forum

The ALS research forum is completely sponsored by ALS Canada.  It consists of two and a half days of platform and poster presentations, with ample opportunity for discussion among colleagues and satellite meetings during meals or free time.  Attendance numbers are around 110 and includes senior and junior basic scientists, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, senior and mid-level ALS clinicians, and clinical research students and fellows. Typically there are four - five non Canadian speakers invited to give plenary talks.  Otherwise the meeting is closed and scientists and clinicians are urged to present new unpublished data.  In the past several years, the Research Forum has become a must-attend for the CALS clinician and their junior clinical investigators.  Both a satellite CALS meeting and an increased clinical research content in the program mean good value for clinicians. For the basic scientists, the opportunity for collegial exchange and establishment of new collaborations makes this conference one they look forward to attending every year.  For junior investigators this is a fine situation to hone their presentation skills and bond with other young scientists who will be their close colleagues and collaborators for years to come.
