The Kitchener-Waterloo WALK for ALS is set to go, rain or shine, on Saturday June 12, 2010, at Bingeman's Park in Kitchener.

We are thrilled to announce that George & Tara from CHYM FM will be our honorary co-chairs this year so make plans now to join with them in Walking for ALS on June 12th! Listen to CHYM FM for updates on the Walk activities.

We have several exciting changes in place for this year, including a new location! In addition to providing us with the use of their park for our event, Bingeman's will be providing each walker with a coupon for 50% off any of their attractions on June 12th.

For those of you who have joined us the past two years, there are some things which have not changed. Each walker will again receive a ballot for a chance to win one of many prizes. There will also be a 50/50 draw and several items will be raffled off so remember to bring your money!!

CHYM FM has also generously donated a champagne hot air balloon ride for two!! Tickets for a chance to win this fabulous prize will be sold at the Walk.

Due to the success of last year's bottle drive, we are again asking you all to save your returnable liquor bottles and bring them to the Walk. This is an easy way to raise some additional money for ALS and also a great reason to clean out your garage or basement of all those empty bottles you keep planning to return.

The creativity you have all shown with your t-shirts in the past two years has been awesome and very inspiring. This year, we want to see your creativity again and we are going to reward it this year! We will be offering a prize for the most creative team. This could be the team with the most unique t-shirts, banners or whatever else you wish to make your team stand out in the crowd.

Team pictures will be taken between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. so please arrive early if you wish to have a keepsake from the day! Each team will receive a picture for each of their walkers to take with them that day.

Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. with speakers beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 11:00 a.m. Over the past two years we have received requests for a shorter route, so that people with mobility problems can also participate in the Walk. With the change in venue this year, we are pleased to announce that we can accommodate this request! We will have a shorter route, on a flat surface, for anyone with mobility difficulties. It will be set up like a track and you can you do as many or as few laps as you can!

Following the walk there will be a barbecue with some fun activities for the kids.
