The "Big Lou" Laise Fund

My Dad was diagnosed with ALS in May, 2006.  Unfortunately he lost his battle with ALS on October 18, 2006.  True to his character my Dad never complained once while suffering from this rare disease.  Rather, he continued to appreciate life, his family and friends.

We watched as ALS "ate away" at my Dad's body.  Until the end my Dad was able to walk, but unfortunately, what used to be simple tasks for him, such as eating, talking and eventually breathing became a chore.  This was hard for us to see as my Dad was active in many sports throughout his life.

A rare disease for a rare individual.  My father touched many people's lives.  He treated everyone equally and those in attendance at his funeral (and there were many!) spanned many different ages and cultures.

I, like many others, miss his gentle smile and unconditional love.

Never selfish and concerned about others until the very end.

We miss you Big Lou.
