A.S. Bhullar ALS Memoriam Fund
Here is our story:
In late 2001, our father was diagnosed with ALS. No one in our family knew what this horrible disease was. Physically he appeared to be healthy. But as time progressed, we began to see his health deteriorate as the disease gradually took over his nerves and muscles. First, he lost movement in his right arm and hand followed by his legs. At this point, he was wheelchair bound and dependant on family members. But, his mind remained positive and a smile never faded. He was a truly a fighter! Eventually, ALS affected his voice to a point where he struggled to communicate. Then came the time, where he had to use his eyes to communicate with us. In addition, he relied on liquid nutrition as he was unable to swallow solid foods. During this entire time, he remained positive and continued to lead a spiritual life. But then came one morning on November 4, 2005 when he stopped breathing and he ended up in the ICU on a ventilator to assist him in breathing. He remained in the care of ICU for 6 months as which point he was brought home to be cared for by his family.
Unfortunately, our father passed away on July 22, 2008 in our home. We will continue to fight the war against ALS so one day no one will suffer the way we did.

as sad as it is to go through something of this nature, there is a smile to be found with all the love and dedication there is with family and friends. ALS is not a pleasant experience for anyone to go through, but with the Bhullar family you know that the much required love and dedication is present. thoughts and prayers remain with the family in this time of need. Love you AMAR!

After meeting Amar, his father's condition and disease intrigued me as I became more aware about it's devasting effects. However, at the same time, I was amazed by the Bhullar Family's dedication and faith in cures, so let's kindly keep that dream alive and donate generously.

Birth and death by Divine Ordinance occur; Under Divine Will beings come and go. It is Waheguru who sends beings into the world, And it is He who calls them back. (S.G.G.S. p.472) I did not know Amar's father personaly, but knowing Amar I know he was a good man with strong values. At times of despire we should rejoice in the memories and good times we have shared with our loved one and be at peace that he lived a rightous life and learn to be one in the same following his example. Prior to Amar telling me that his dad had been diagnosed with ALS I had no clue what ALS was. We should all continue to donate and encourage others to donate so that one day a cure for the disease will be found.

May Guru ji continue to keep the family and friends of Avtar Singh uncle Ji strong. This is a great cause and i encourage everyone who has the abiity to contribute even with the smallest amount. Never heard of this disease until good old Amar came along. His strength and faith is inspiring and i hope with the will of god a cure will be discovered to help victims of this disease. My prayers are with the family.

Mandeep K. from Woodbridge, Ontario writes:
By the Wonderful Grace of God, a man like Avtar Singh Ji is staying as strong as he is today and we should all continue to pray for that Grace being forever granted on him. When I see a spiritual man go through tough times and deal with it in such an inspiring way, it makes me learn to appreciate the small things in life. Through rough times or good times, we should continue to remember the Lord, however it is our duty as humanity to support and help find a cause to ALS, in prayer and in action.
