Mike Kennedy's Als Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Thank you so much for your support to date- its been overwhelming!

This May, I'm going to be running the Bluenose Marathon in Halifax (26.2 miles/ 42.6 kilometers) in an effort to raise money for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. For those of you who don't know, its a degenerative neurological disorder through which sufferers are subject to the gradual degradation of motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. Upon being diagnosed, those with ALS generally have a life expectancy of 2-5 years, often succumbing to death by asphyxiation because the muscles required to breathe are eventually rendered useless over time.

My original goal was to raise $1000 for the cause, which is roughly $1 per kilometer that I'll be running over the next 16 weeks while training for and completing the marathon and with your generosity, I've achieved it!  Please help me to continue raising the bar and improve the lives of those living with ALS.

Training is going really well - its forced me to get into the best shape of my life. I've lost 10 pounds since I started and ran my first sub 20 minute 5k earlier this week.

All online donations will automatically be issued a tax receipt via email.

Thanks for your generosity towards a good cause!
