Jesse went home home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2009 after a 19-month battle with ALS. The symptoms began In January, 2008 when he began noticing weakness in a few fingers. In March, he noticed a slight slur in his speech. The thought had never occurred to connect the two symptoms. On May 5th, the doctors confirmed that he had this fatal disease, ALS. Over the following weeks and months, we noticed increased diffculty speaking, walking and swallowing. He fought faithfully and hopefully against the disease but it rapidly took over his body one muscle at a time. Despite all that was lost, he often spelled out on his letter board, "This diease cannot take away what is most important to me- my relationship with God and my relationships with my family." At the end of his journey, he was wheelchair bound, had very minimal movement, a great deal of weight and muscle loss and had lost his ability to speak. Through your donation, you can help raise awareness and funds about this horrible disease so researchers can find a cure, and provide support to the ALS Society of Alberta, without whom we would have not known how to cope with ALS. Thanks for helping us fight! For more details about the journey, visit:http://jessemoralesjourney.blogspot.com
