Making a difference in our community – together.

It takes a lot of people to develop and execute an incredible fundraising event — and establishing and nurturing strong relationships is critical to its success. Our partners have demonstrated commitment, dedication and enthusiasm for the upcoming Plane Pull to End ALS and we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight their contributions. Thank you to all our sponsors.

Equitable Bank logoEquitable Bank (EQ Bank) has a long-standing sponsorship history with ALS Canada’s Plane Pull to End ALS and they are back for their eighth year! In addition to sponsorship, they’ve been registering multiple teams every year. With four teams in this year’s event, Equitable Bank has consistently entered the highest number of teams to this single event each year.

Community support is something that’s of high importance at EQ Bank and is part of their dedication to making a difference. EQ Bank and its employees are committed to doing their part in building a better society for all Canadians, and it shows. Colleagues and friends have been supporting Lolo Lam’s dedication to fundraising for ALS Canada after the loss of her father to the disease. Lolo Lam is a familiar face at the Plane Pull, coming back in 2018 for her sixth time.

“If I can do it, anyone can. I am 5-foot nothing! All we need are some muscles.” – Lolo Lam, Equitable Bank employee

Equitable Bank manages over $26 billion in assets and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Equitable Group. It was founded in 1970 as The Equitable Trust Company and has become Canada’s ninth largest Schedule I bank. Equitable Bank offers a diverse suite of residential lending, commercial lending, and savings solutions, including high-interest savings products and GICs.

To say that we are excited to have established a partnership with PortsToronto is a bit of an understatement. Working with their team to bring an unforgettable event to the Downtown Toronto airport has been a positive collaborative experience for everyone involved. For the first time ever, the ALS Canada Plane Pull to End ALS will give registered participants the rare opportunity to experience Billy Bishop Airport as they never have before. PortsToronto’s involvement in facilitating the development of the October 20th event is a result of their support and dedication to the community. Above that, Team YTZ is set to test their corporate muscles on the tarmac too. We’re looking forward to rolling out the purple carpet with them this weekend!

Without a plane, we wouldn’t have an event, and Porter stepped up with enthusiasm to provide one of their 37,000-lb planes. The team from Porter has outfitted the plane with our rope and is eagerly awaiting event kick off. They’re also Pulling Together to End ALS and have registered Team Porter to compete in the event.

“Every plane pull needs a plane, and we’re able to contribute this, along with the support of our team members. This is an ideal event for Porter to get involved with at our home airport.” – Robert Deluce, President and CEO, Porter Airlines
