As a charitable organization, ALS Canada relies on the time and talents of dedicated volunteers in so many ways. Volunteers play a vital role at our office and at fundraising events. Our Board of Directors and advisors are volunteers, too!

With ALS research momentum growing and thousands of people and families with ALS benefiting from the support and services we offer, there has never been a better time to show your support of our shared cause by volunteering with ALS Canada.

Call for nominations: ALS Canada Board of Directors

The ALS Canada Board is seeking nominations for the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors provides leadership to the organization by defining its strategic direction, stewarding its resources, providing oversight to the volunteer engagement and ensuring accountability to the community and to the public. It is made up of 15 members, including the Chairs of the Scientific Medical Advisory Council, Client Services Advisory Council and Revenue Advisory Council.

For this round of recruitment, the Board is seeking strategic, forward-thinking individuals with experience in the areas of pharmaceuticals (regulatory affairs and access to treatment), health policy, health systems within Ontario, finance and risk management. Particular consideration will be given to potential candidates from Western Canada to broaden representation from across the country.

Click here for the full description and expectations of a Director, as well as a nomination form that must be submitted, together with the requested information, to the Chief Executive Officer, Tammy Moore, tmoore@als.ca, no later than March 19, 2018.

Volunteer at an event

Whether at the WALK for ALS or another fundraising event for ALS Canada, volunteering can include being on a committee to help plan and execute the event, or volunteering on the day of the event to help it run smoothly. Both options are a great way to make new friends and contacts, learn new skills, gain work experience or meet volunteer hour requirements for schools and community organizations.

Volunteer at our office

Filing, stuffing envelopes, and entering data are all important activities in our day-to-day work at ALS Canada and we appreciate the support of volunteers to help them get done.  There are also times when we need volunteers with special skills like photography, videography and graphic design.

ALS Canada ambassadors

ALS Canada is fortunate to have volunteer ambassadors across Ontario. They help to connect our organization with the ALS community, and are available to speak at events and help raise ALS awareness. If you would like to request an Ambassador for your event, or become one yourself, please reach out to us.
